Terms of Use and Subscription Terms

Effective: September 26, 2026 · Version 1.0

These terms govern the Costy iPhone app and hosted AI service. The service provider is Costy. Contact: [email protected]. By downloading or using Costy, you agree to these terms. Data processing is described separately in the Privacy Notice.

1. Eligibility and license

You must be at least 18 to use Costy. Costy grants you a limited, non-transferable, revocable license for personal, non-commercial household expense tracking. You may not use the service unlawfully, harm the service, bypass security or quota controls, or infringe another person’s rights.

2. Free features and provider charges

Manual expense tracking and core local features may be offered free of charge. If you use your own AI key, you are responsible for the provider’s charges and terms. The app shows the current scope of free and paid features.

3. AI features

AI results are assistive drafts and are not financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Review amounts, dates, currencies, and tags before saving or relying on them. Costy is designed not to invent missing values, but it cannot guarantee that AI output is always accurate.

Standard does not enforce zero data retention and providers may retain inputs or use them for model improvement under their terms. Premium requests routing that supports zero data retention. The Privacy Notice explains what is sent.

4. Subscriptions, price, and renewal

Standard and Premium are monthly auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through Apple In-App Purchase. The current tax-inclusive price and period appear beside the purchase button and on Apple’s confirmation sheet. Apple charges your Apple Account. The subscription renews unless you cancel through Apple before the current period ends.

Weekly fair-use limits apply and reset each Monday. Plans may have different limits; the app tells you when a limit is reached. Material limit or service changes apply prospectively with any notice required by law. Apple’s price-increase and consent rules apply.

5. Cancellation, withdrawal, and refunds

Cancel from Manage Subscription in Costy or your Apple Account subscription settings. Cancellation normally preserves access through the paid period and stops the next renewal. Erasing the app or its data does not cancel the subscription.

Apple processes purchases and refunds; submit refund requests through Apple’s official refund channel. Mandatory withdrawal, conformity, defective-service, refund, and remedy rights in your place of residence remain available. Nothing here waives a non-waivable consumer right.

6. Your content and third-party services

You retain ownership of content you enter. You authorize Costy to process it only as needed to provide the functions, sync and sharing you request, and AI analysis you initiate. Separate terms may apply to Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, Vercel, OpenRouter, and your chosen AI provider. Costy is not responsible for an independent third party’s outage or terms, subject to mandatory law.

7. Service changes and availability

We may change features for security, legal compliance, provider changes, or product development. If a material change adversely affects the core paid service, applicable notice and termination rights will be provided. Maintenance, networks, and third-party services can cause temporary interruption.

8. Responsibility and mandatory rights

Costy assists personal household tracking. It is not a bank account, official accounting record, or professional adviser. To the extent permitted by law, liability for indirect or unforeseeable loss is limited. This limitation does not apply to intent, gross negligence, personal injury, data protection duties, or consumer rights that cannot be limited.

9. Law and Apple terms

Mandatory consumer protections and access to authorities or courts in your country of residence remain available. Apple’s Standard EULA applies to the App Store license alongside these terms. Mandatory consumer law controls if there is a conflict.

10. Support and changes

Email [email protected] for support, privacy, cancellation, or consumer-rights questions. Material changes update the version and effective date and, when appropriate, are announced in the app.
